A question posted by Jude Udedibia, ODF Boardmember . . .

What constitutes the “universe” of org design?

Since the first conversation on this topic back in the fall of 2013, I have given it further thought and I came up with the following:

The “universe” of org design, in my opinion, is made up of these four broad categories: org design thinking, org design practices, org design processes, and org design education. Any activity, event, or idea that can be subsumed under any of these four categories will classify as org design related.

“Design thinking stands for design-specific cognitive activities that designers apply during the process of designing.”

“Design in its most effective form is a process, an action, a verb not a noun. A protocol for solving problems and discovering new opportunities.”

What do you think?
